Chloroplasts are present in green plant cells and are where photosynthesis
takes place. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants produce sugars
and starches by combining carbon dioxide and water, using the energy of
sunlight to power the reactions. Algae also sometimes have chloroplasts
rather like those of the flowering plants.
